The Piglet Army

pigletarmyCHILDREN of Adelaide-based soldiers heading to conflict-ravaged countries this month have their own “army’’ to help cope with their parents’ absence for six months.

The piglet army was formed to help the soldiers’ families cope with the “heavy lifting’’ while the dads or mums are serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.

More than 400 troops, predominantly from the Edinburgh-based 7th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, began deployment earlier this month to Iraq and Afghanistan to work with local forces.
