C Coy has had the nickname the ‘roadrunners’ since the forming of the battalion in Puckapunyal prior the first deployment to Vietnam. There are two origins to C Coy’s nickname, the ‘Roadrunners’, however they both originate from the same time and likely both hold some truth. The first is that the C Coy lines were furthest from the mess, and meant that C Coy regularly had to run whilst other Coys walked in order to meet timings. The second that the C Coy leadership, in particular the OC, had an obsession with Coy runs as a form of PT compared to the other Coys. Regardless of the origin, C Coy did more than their share of running and the nickname endures to this day.
