Vale: Percy Meredith UPDATE

Sad but expected news.

Percival James Merdith (Mors and Recce 2nd Tour) passed away at 0540 this morning 29 Feb 2013.  He had been in a coma for the last couple of days.

His son Terry is working on having the funeral on Saturday 7 Dec  - more details as they come to hand.


The funeral is to be held at Pinnaroo Lawn Cemetry Chapel at 10:00 hrs Friday 6 Dec 2013
Dress will be coat, tie and medals.

Bob Copeland’s funeral

The ceremony to celebrate the life of Robert Bruce COPELAND of Albany will be conducted at Bethany Chapel, 1 Prior Street, Albany on Thursday (7.11.13) commencing at 12.00 midday.  A private cremantion will follow.

Have just been informed that Bob Copeland, B Coy 2nd Tour has succumbed to cancer in Albany WA.  He comes from Kattanning.  Bob was a mate of mine and as I come from Albany we often met when I was over there visiting family.  I will miss him as will all who knew him

For those who haven’t received the news, PETER FRADGLEY, Medic 12 PL DCOY 7RAR (2nd Tour) passed away on TUE 24SEP, in HAWKESBURY HOSPITAL, WINDSOR, NSW.

The celebration of PETER’s life and his funeral is to be held 10AM FRI 4OCT at CASTLEBROOK MEMORIAL PARK, off WINDSOR RD, ROUSE HILL.

SUE and the Family welcome any 7RAR members who would like to attend.

I explained to YVETTE, PETE’s daughter that some of us won’t be able to attend due to our commitment to D COY’s reunion from 4 to 6OCT at BOURKE.

Some of us intend to visit SUE AM THU 3OCT on our way to BOURKE and will be passing on our commiserations at that time.

I’ll be arranging a wreath from 12PL, D COY and 7RAR for the funeral.

3795039 Josephus Henry MERTENS – 7RAR Feb to Aug 1970  died on Tuesday at William Anglis hospital of suspected heart attack.

The Funeral Mass in Thanksgiving for the for the life of Josephus Hendricus Mertens will be held at St Paul’s Catholic Church, 59 Moores Rd Monbulk (Vic) on Thursday 25/07/13 at 11.00 am.

Jim Cox

Today marks the anniversary of the death of James Cox whowas born in Rockhampton, in the state of Queensland, AUSTRALIA, on the 4th May 1945.

He was a National Serviceman.

He served in Vietnam with the 7th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, from the 8th April 1967 until his death on the 26th June 1967.

James Cox died at 8 Field Ambulance of wounds received in Phuoc Tuy Province on the 26th June 1967.

 Alan Lawler passed away today at 1400 hours. A gentle and kind person who has suffered the burden of his service in Vietnam for a great many years. His passing took place at the Eliza Purton Nursing Home,Ulverstone,Tasmania.

Allan was a National  Serviceman, Service number 6708783. He served with the 7th Battalion RAR from 24 October 1967 till 9 April 1968, and with the 1st Battalion RAR from 10 April 1968 til 02 July 1968. I understand he was at Fire Support Bases Balmoral and Coral.
