WO1 Matthew Bold

BoldWarrant Officer Class One Matthew Bold,
Regimental Sergeant Major, 7th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment

In 1994, Warrant Officer Bold was posted to the 3rd Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment, where he served in a number of positions and promoted through the ranks to Corporal. In 1998, Warrant Officer Bold was posted to the 1st Recruit Training Battalion, as a recruit instructor. At the completion 2001, Warrant Officer Bold was promoted to Sergeant and posted to the 2nd Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment. He spent three years serving in Rifle Company’s and in Battalion Headquarters. From 2003-2005, Warrant Officer Bold served as an instructor at the Royal Military College-Duntroon. In 2006, Warrant Officer Bold was promoted to Warrant Officer Class two and posted to the 1st/19th Battalion, the Royal New South Wales Regiment, as a Training Warrant Officer. At the completion of 2008 he was then a post to Headquarters 3 Brigade in the operations cell. In 2010, Warrant Officer Bold was posted back to the 2nd Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment, where he served as a Company Sergeant Major in both Rifle and Support Company’s and also as the Operations Warrant Officer.

In January 2013, Warrant Officer Bold was promoted to Warrant Officer Class One, and appointed as the Regimental Sergeant Major of the 9th Battalion, the Royal Queensland Regiment. Warrant Officer Bold was appointed as the Regimental Sergeant Major of the 7th Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment on the 18 January 2016.

Warrant Officer Bold’s operational experience includes, East Timor on OP TANAGER, as a Rifle Platoon Sergeant, Solomon Islands on OP ANODE, as the Regimental Police Sergeant, two deployments on OP SLIPPER, first as the Company Sergeant Major of the Force Insertion Team and the second as the Company Sergeant Major of Combat Team Alpha Company as part of the 2 RAR Battle Group Mentoring Task Force 3. Other overseas service includes Rifle Company Butterworth and instructional deployment to US Marine Corps in California.

Warrant Officer Bold is married to Louise and has two children. His interests include fishing, travel and spending time in the great outdoors.
