For exceptional service in the field of officer career management in 2009 and as Commanding Officer, 7th Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment, from 2010 to 2012.
As a career manager, Lieutenant Colonel Garraway was pivotal in establishing the Army Officer Career Pathway Strategy for officer career development. As Commanding Officer of the 7th Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment, he generated outstanding foundation warfighting skills enabling the Regiment to be prepared for operational deployments. His exemplary leadership and devotion to service contributed significantly to the maintenance of the Australian Army’s force preparedness and operational readiness.

Warrant Officer Class One Richard Alfred VERRALL, Qld
For meritorious service as the Regimental Sergeant Major of the 2nd/17th Battalion, Royal New South Wales Regiment and the 7th Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment.
Warrant Officer Verrall’s commitment, personal example and extraordinary leadership have been outstanding and instrumental in building capability through the careful development and training of soldiers and his acceptance of extra responsibility. As a senior soldier his loyalty, work ethic and provision of support to the chain of command have been exemplary. Warrant Officer Verrall’s contributions are of the highest order and are a credit to himself, the Australian Army and the Australian Defence Force.
