G’day, I am a friend of Mindy, who is well known in the Piggy group of Vietnam vets. Alex Sutherland DCM was her husband, and since his passing she has actively been involved in caring and loving so many vet’s over the years, in Canberra and around Oz, I write to inform you that Mindy has just been released from 5 weeks in hospital which has seen the wretched cancer return to her body in a severe way. Can you please advise those who may know her and pass on this sad news. Time is now her enemy, and with prayers she may live out her life now with comfort and support. I am in Geelong so I am not much use here, so if you guys and girls can rally for her that would be great.
Cheers Steve
Mindy’s phone number is listed on the Website under Executive in her position as Liaison Officer for Wives, Widows and Welfare. It is (02) 6231 9052
Hi Steven Coon,
I am a Vietnam Veteran and friend of Mindy. (I am also a younger brother of John Brewer – 7RAR first tour). I met Mindy many years ago working with the Vietnam Veteran community here in the ACT. I spoke with her yesterday. Yes she is doing it tough health wise. She is back undergoing treatment and its pretty severe. But, she seemed in good spirits and can still raise a smile. She tells me she still enjoys her garden and strives to keep it under control and looking great. She used to tell me how she called each member of 7RAR yearly. She has worked so hard for others. Now she needs us to rally for her and if possible, drop her a not or a phone call and remember her in your prayers. Regards, Wal Brewer
I saw Mindy today for about 10 minutes, she is very ill.

Hi All,
Well it has finally happened, and we are very much the poorer for the loss of our precious MINDY, especially the blokes of A Coy 1st Tour.
Mindy has kept in contact with every A Coy Member she had addresses for, at least once per year to wish us a happy birthday. She has been a real mate to us and ALWAYS took our part when necessary. She always regarded herself as a special mate of each of us and was always prepared to help where possible.
Mindy loved attending 7 RAR Assn functions and rarely missed, I know she really enjoyed being with us in Adelaide for her last big show.
Mindy’s passing will leave a huge hole in our hearts and we will miss her ” c’mon mate give us a cuddle”. She would’ve been happy at the end knowing she was going to her lifelong love JOCK who passed several years ago.
Solong Mate, thank you for your loving care over the years. We will love you forever.
MITZU, FLOSS & SCOUSIE.
