I have received information that 2LT Brendan O’Brien died soon after returning to Australia after the first tour. Can anyone confirm this is a fact?
Any links to a reference would be appreciated.

Some months after returning from Vietnam, Brendan returned to university in Melbourne and worked part time at Melbourne airports construction. I believe that he was travelling to work where it is thought he fell asleep at the wheel and crashed. He did not survive. He was a good friend. I have had contact with one of his brothers since.
G’day John. I was in Fire Asslt Pl when Brendan O’brien was PL Com and served as his batman for about a month before I was posted to 9 pl C Coy. He seemed ok. He looked very young. We called him the boy bastard, but not in a nasty sort of way. Bill Fogarty new him pretty well, and I suppose Jock Logan could tell you a bit about him. I don’t have any photos of him though..
